Accessibility FAQ

The ACM AI Leadership Summit 2026 is committed to providing an accessible and welcoming experience to all attendees, presenters, and guests. This FAQ — based on the SIGACCESS Accessibility FAQ template — describes what attendees can expect on site and how to request accommodations. Many operational details will be confirmed closer to the event; please use the Accessibility Request Form and email below to communicate with the Accessibility Chair.

1. How do I communicate accessibility needs to organizers?

Attendees, presenters, student volunteers, and exhibitors are encouraged to share accessibility needs by July 30, 2026 so that requests can be reliably fulfilled. There are two ways to do this:

All requests are treated as confidential and shared only with the people needed to fulfill them.

2. Who do I ask if my question is not answered here?

Franklin Mingzhe Li, Accessibility Chair

You may also contact the General Chairs at aisummit@acm.org.

3. Will sign language interpretation or captioning be available?

Sign language interpretation and real-time captioning (CART) services can be considered on request. Because both services require advance booking of qualified providers, please fill out the Accessibility Request Form by July 30, 2026: https://forms.gle/jKwhE8cGWgEvqaCP9

4. What are the taxi and public transport options?

The main conference venue, the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, is in downtown Atlanta and is served by:

  • MARTA rail: Atlanta's rapid-transit system. MARTA rail stations and trains are wheelchair accessible (elevators and level boarding).
  • MARTA Mobility: a paratransit service for riders whose disability prevents use of fixed-route bus or rail. See itsmarta.com for eligibility information.
  • Accessible taxis and rideshare: Atlanta taxis and the major rideshare apps offer wheelchair-accessible vehicle (WAV) options.
  • From Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL): direct MARTA rail service runs from the airport into downtown Atlanta; accessible taxi and rideshare services are also available curbside.

5. Who can I ask about accessibility in the city?

Several Atlanta-area organizations publish accessibility resources useful to visitors:

  • MARTA Accessibility Services itsmarta.com/accessibility.aspx. Information on accessible rail and bus service, station elevator/escalator status, the Reduced Fare program, and the MARTA Accessibility Committee.
  • MARTA Mobility (paratransit) itsmarta.com/marta-mobility.aspx, phone 404-848-5826. Door-to-door paratransit service for riders whose disability prevents use of fixed-route bus or rail; visitors with paratransit eligibility from another region may apply for short-term reciprocal eligibility.
  • Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) atl.com. Information on accessible parking, wheelchair assistance, service-animal relief areas, and accessible ground transportation to downtown Atlanta.
  • Discover Atlanta (the city visitor bureau) — discoveratlanta.com. Visitor information on accessible attractions, restaurants, and neighborhoods.
  • Shepherd Center shepherd.org. Atlanta-based specialty hospital for spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, and multiple sclerosis; a long-standing regional resource for disability information, adaptive sports, and community programs.
  • Statewide Independent Living Council of Georgia (SILC) silcga.org. State-level independent living resources and links to local Centers for Independent Living across Georgia.
  • Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities (GCDD) gcdd.org. Policy and advocacy information related to developmental disabilities in Georgia.
  • disABILITY LINK disabilitylink.org. Atlanta-area Center for Independent Living offering peer support, advocacy, and community referrals.

For accessibility questions specific to the conference, please contact the Accessibility Chair (aisummit-accessibility@acm.org).

8. Will the conference be accessible by wheelchair or power scooter?

The Hyatt Regency Atlanta and the Georgia Tech facilities are wheelchair- and power-scooter accessible, with step-free entrances and elevators to meeting floors. Specific route information will be provided alongside the floor plan.

9. What are the restroom facilities like?

The Hyatt Regency provides accessible restrooms on conference floors. Specific locations, including any all-gender / single-occupancy restrooms, will be marked on the conference map.

10. What are the arrangements for presenters with accessibility needs?

Presenters who require accommodations — such as stage access, a seated presentation setup, additional microphone options, slide-advance assistance, extended speaking time, or alternative-format speaker notes — are encouraged to fill out the Accessibility Request Form by July 30, 2026 so equipment and staffing can be arranged: https://forms.gle/jKwhE8cGWgEvqaCP9

11. Can I bring my guide dog?

Yes. Service animals — including guide dogs, hearing dogs, and other task-trained assistance animals — are welcome at the conference venues, in line with U.S. Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) protections.

If you are travelling internationally with a service animal, please check current U.S. entry requirements well in advance of travel.

12. Can I attend the conference by robot?

If you would like to attend by telepresence robot, please fill out the Accessibility Request Form by July 30, 2026 so that venue logistics and feasibility can be discussed: https://forms.gle/jKwhE8cGWgEvqaCP9

13. How much walking or standing will be needed?

The Hyatt Regency is a large hotel with multiple meeting floors served by elevators. Some networking events and meals may be stand-up format; seating will be available in the same room for those who prefer or need to sit. Travel between the Hyatt Regency and Georgia Tech (for the Doctoral Consortium) is approximately 2 miles. Please contact the accessibility team for information about transport between venues.

14. Will there be an induction loop in meeting rooms?

Information about hearing induction loops or other assistive listening systems at the venue will be confirmed closer to the event. Attendees who rely on these systems are encouraged to fill out the Accessibility Request Form by July 30, 2026: https://forms.gle/jKwhE8cGWgEvqaCP9

15. Will speakers and audience members use microphones?

Yes. All speakers — including in plenaries, panels, and breakout sessions — will use microphones. Audience questions will also be taken via microphone (either a roving microphone or a designated question microphone); if a question is asked without a microphone, the session chair or speaker will repeat it through their microphone before answering. Session chairs will be briefed to enforce this for the benefit of attendees who are hard of hearing and for captioning / recording purposes.

16. What food service will be provided?

Details of catered meals and refreshment breaks included with registration will be published closer to the event.

17. Can the conference accommodate special dietary needs?

Attendees with dietary requirements, food allergies, or intolerances are encouraged to indicate these on the registration form so that catering can plan accordingly. Specific dietary accommodation policies will be confirmed closer to the event.

18. Will the conference be a smoke-free environment?

All indoor conference spaces at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta and at Georgia Tech are smoke- and vape-free, in line with Georgia state law and venue policy.

19. Will there be loud music, strobe lighting, or strong sensory experiences?

If a session or social event is expected to include amplified music, strong flashing visuals, or other potentially overwhelming sensory elements, content notes will be added to the program where possible. Attendees with sensory sensitivities can contact the accessibility team for current information about specific events.

20. Will there be a designated quiet space?

Arrangements for a designated quiet space will be confirmed closer to the event. Please fill out the Accessibility Request Form by July 30, 2026 if access to a low-stimulation space during the conference is important to you: https://forms.gle/jKwhE8cGWgEvqaCP9

21. What if I have a medical emergency or health problem?

In a medical emergency, dial 911 from any phone — or ask any conference volunteer or hotel staff member, who can call on your behalf. The Hyatt Regency Atlanta has 24-hour front-desk staff. For non-emergency medical needs, the registration desk can help locate nearby pharmacies and urgent care clinics.

If you have a health condition that you would like staff to be aware of during the event, you are welcome — though not required — to share this in confidence with the accessibility team in advance.
